Hi Yogis –

Join me for a fun, friendly series of classes, suitable for any yoga practitioner where we ask the questions:

  • What are the alignment cues that work for me?

  • What are the targeted areas you are trying to affect and the sensations you want to create there?

  • What you are actually experiencing in the targeted area while you are in the posture?

  • If you are not feeling the pose in the targeted area, change what you are doing and find a position that creates the intended sensations? 

I'll guide you through sequences optimized for function rather than aesthetics. 
We'll dive into what practicing functional yoga means, explore moving through new orientations and shapes. Remember that what is hard for you, may be easy for the person next to you and visa versa.  We are all here to learn together. 
Alignment is personal, not universal. 

Please feel welcome to join me on Monday's at 5:30 pm and Saturday's at 2 pm for the Yin side of this class  and Wednesdays at 5:30 pm for a Hatha class.

February, March and April this quartet of classes are linked together by the Element of Earth, (Prithvi), stability, peace, harmony and balance, Spleen (Yin) and Stomach (Yang) meridians. The body parts that related to Earth element are knees, elbows and mid back. The Earth element also controls the lymphatic system of the body.

Functional yoga blends anatomy and physiology with yogic practices painting a clear picture of how you feel in your practice. It challenges the range of movement by using a variety of techniques such a myofascial release, passive/active stretching, mobility, and stability work which allows the student to explore the function of their bodies highlighting areas that may need more attention. It can also focus on the internal landscape of the mind and body by specifically targeting the nervous system using techniques such as nerve flossing and restorative poses.

This classes are available to all levels of Yogis  
Expect to build strength and stamina.
Air conditioning is not used for this class.
Windows are open and studio cooled by fans.
